The tracheostomy care simulator is a realistic training model of an adult male, specifically designed for practical training in respiratory care. It enables medical professionals to safely and repeatedly train suctioning, ventilation, and care techniques on tracheotomized patients.
The model replicates the human respiratory system in detail – including the mouth and nose, pharynx, epiglottis, trachea, esophagus, stoma, cricoid cartilage, bronchi, and bronchial tree. The esophagus ends approximately 5 cm below the tracheal opening, allowing for realistic exercises to differentiate between the airway and the digestive tract.
An integrated viewing window in the neck allows for visual monitoring of catheter or tube placement during suctioning and ventilation. Additionally, the underside of the simulator allows for verification that the suction catheter is correctly positioned in the right (visible) or left bronchus (not visible). This enables particularly detailed and instructive training.
The simulator is ideal for practicing oral, nasopharyngeal, nasotracheal and tracheal suction techniques, inflating the tube cuff, and for the proper care of the tracheostomy, including changing dressings and fixation straps.
