This moulage depicts a colostomy , the most common type of stoma . The end colostomy is typically located in the middle of the body or on the left side of the body and shows the colon sutured above skin level . The area around the colon is inflamed , providing a realistic representation of the typical symptoms and complications of a colostomy.
Thanks to the use of a special plastic compound, all common ostomy bags adhere securely to the moulage. The model is ideal for determining the size using a stoma template , for cleansing the skin with water , and for attaching the base plate and ostomy bag . It is mounted in a holder and can also be removed for flexible use in various training and practice scenarios.
