VICRYL® is a synthetic, absorbable suture material made of polyglactin 910 , characterized by its high tensile strength, excellent handling, and reliable knot security. It is ideally suited for soft tissue approximation and ligation in numerous surgical disciplines. Thanks to its versatility, VICRYL is used in fields such as general surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, as well as in specialized procedures in ophthalmology, microsurgery, and neurosurgery . It demonstrates its microsurgical advantages, particularly in vascular surgery for vessels < 2 mm. Its absorbable properties allow for gentle healing without the need for subsequent suture removal.
Areas of application:
-
General Surgery
-
Gastrointestinal surgery
-
Gynecology & Obstetrics
-
urology
-
Orthopedics
-
Ophthalmology
-
Microsurgery (e.g., peripheral nerve sutures, vessels < 2 mm diameter)
Advantages at a glance:
-
Absorbable – no later suture removal required
-
High tensile strength and knot security
