The thoracic X-ray phantom is used for training and demonstration in projection radiography of the chest. It consists of the spine from C6 to L3, the rib cage including the shoulder blades, and the clavicles. The anatomical structures are embedded in soft materials and assembled entirely without metal parts.
The outlines of the lungs, heart, and kidneys are contained within the phantom and create corresponding shadows on the X-ray image. This allows for the creation of realistic chest X-rays under training conditions. Depending on availability, the natural bones used may exhibit individual pathological changes, minor structural defects, or mounting holes.
The phantom is designed for teaching, training, and demonstration purposes and is suitable for use in radiological education. It is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic applications on patients. Delivery includes a transport case.
