Sorbalgon Classic is a sterile wound dressing made of calcium alginate fibers for the treatment of bleeding and heavily exuding wounds. Upon contact with wound exudate or blood, the fibers react with sodium salts to form a hydrophilic, non-adherent gel. This gel conforms evenly to the wound bed, effectively binds exudate, and supports a moist, healing-promoting wound environment.
Due to its high absorption capacity, the dressing is particularly suitable for wounds with significant exudation. At the same time, germs are trapped in the gel, contributing to local germ control. The soft, dimensionally stable structure allows for good adaptation to irregular wound surfaces and offers high tamponade capacity, even for deep wounds or wound cavities.
Sorbalgon Classic can be used for acute and chronic wounds such as venous leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, abscesses, boils, burns, as well as postoperative or tumor-related wounds. The gel-forming material enables atraumatic dressing changes and protects delicate granulation tissue. The dressings are individually sterile-packed and intended for professional wound care in hospitals, practices, and nursing homes.
