This specialized trainer is designed to support both theoretical and practical instruction in the treatment of pre-hospital chest trauma and chest drainage care. The right side of the simulator features two windows that vividly illustrate the anatomical relationships between the skin surface, muscles, ribs, and lungs, allowing for a detailed visualization of the thoracic structure. The left side features a simulated tension pneumothorax, which can be pressurized using a pump to realistically recreate various emergency scenarios.
An important component of the trainer is access to the surgical insertion of chest drains to practice the treatment of pleural effusions by draining fluid from the pleural space. The color, volume, and viscosity of the fluid are controlled by the instructor to simulate various clinical conditions and their treatment. The trainer is ideal for practicing the concepts and mechanisms of closed drainage systems with a water seal, such as those used in the Pleur-Evac system. The simulator comes with a practical carrying case, making it ideal for use in training courses and on training wards.
