The CLEARTEST Calprotectin stool rapid test enables the fast and reliable detection of inflammatory bowel diseases . In cases of intestinal inflammation, immune cells, stimulated by tissue hormones, migrate into the intestinal wall to fight potential pathogens. These immune cells produce the biomarker calprotectin , the concentration of which in stool indicates inflammatory activity. Calprotectin, also known as human leukocyte protein , has an antimicrobial effect and is primarily found in neutrophils . An elevated level of this biomarker (> 50 µg/g stool ) provides the physician with important information about inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease , ulcerative colitis , diverticulitis , and their inflammatory progression.
