The BD Vacutainer Eclipse Safety Needle is a specially designed safety needle for venous blood collection that provides protection against needlestick injuries after use. The needle features a fully integrated protective shield that is activated immediately after blood collection and securely encloses the needle . The double locking mechanism provides additional security and prevents accidental opening of the protective shield.
It is used as usual using the one-handed puncture technique , without the need for additional steps or tools. The BD Vacutainer Eclipse safety needle is compatible with all other BD Vacutainer products , including holders and tubes , allowing seamless integration into existing laboratory equipment.
