Atrauman® Silicone from Hartmann is a high-quality, atraumatic wound contact layer specially developed for the gentle care of chronic and acute wounds. It consists of a fine-mesh polyethylene terephthalate (PET) net coated on both sides with skin-friendly silicone gel. This allows the dressing to adhere gently to the skin without sticking to the wound – for virtually painless dressing changes. The thin, soft material can be cut to size, is flexible, and drapeable. The open mesh structure allows for the unimpeded flow of wound exudate to a secondary dressing.
Areas of application:
-
Chronic wounds (e.g. leg ulcers, pressure sores, diabetic foot syndrome)
-
Acute wounds (e.g., cuts, lacerations, abrasions and lacerations)
-
Split-thickness skin graft donor sites and transplants
-
Superficial burns
-
Postoperative wounds
-
Ideal for sensitive skin or patients with a low pain threshold.
Advantages at a glance:
-
Atraumatic dressing changes – reduces pain and skin trauma
-
No sticking to the wound
-
Soft, thin, supple and cuttable
-
Permeable to exudate – supports exudate management with secondary dressings
-
Silicone-coated on both sides – adheres gently without fixing
-
Good skin compatibility – also suitable for sensitive skin
Further information:
Atrauman Silicone is ideally suited for sensitive patients and situations requiring frequent dressing changes. Its non-occlusive structure allows the skin to breathe and ensures optimal wound contact while protecting surrounding tissue. It should always be used in combination with an absorbent secondary dressing.
