Atrauman® Silicone from Hartmann is a high-quality, atraumatic wound contact layer specially developed for the gentle care of chronic and acute wounds. It consists of a fine-mesh polyethylene terephthalate (PET) mesh coated on both sides with skin-friendly silicone gel . This allows the wound dressing to adhere gently to the skin without sticking to the wound – for virtually painless dressing changes. The thin, soft material can be individually cut to size, is flexible, and can be draped. The open mesh structure allows unhindered flow of wound exudate to a secondary dressing.
Areas of application:
-
Chronic wounds (e.g. leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot syndrome)
-
Acute wounds (e.g. cuts, lacerations, abrasions and lacerations)
-
Split-thickness skin donor sites and transplants
-
Superficial burns
-
Postoperative wounds
-
Ideal for sensitive skin or pain-sensitive patients
Advantages at a glance:
-
Atraumatic dressing changes – reduces pain and skin trauma
-
No sticking to the wound
-
Soft, thin, cuddly and cuttable
-
Permeable to exudate – supports exudate management with secondary dressings
-
Silicone coated on both sides – adheres gently without fixing
-
Good skin compatibility – also suitable for sensitive skin
Further information:
Atrauman Silicone is ideal for sensitive patients and situations where frequent dressing changes are necessary. Its non-occlusive structure allows the skin to breathe and enables optimal wound contact while protecting the surrounding tissue. It should always be used in combination with an absorbent secondary dressing.
