Acticoat by Smith & Nephew is a multi-layered, silver-coated wound dressing for the treatment of infected or at-risk wounds. The innovative SILCRYST™ technology continuously releases ionic silver, which has antimicrobial properties against a broad spectrum of germs, including antibiotic-resistant bacteria. This consistent release provides long-lasting protection and promotes a sterile wound environment. The dressing is suitable for both acute care and preventative use on wounds at risk.
Areas of application:
Infected or potentially infected wounds, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, postoperative wounds, surgical wound complications, burns (up to grade 2), chronic wounds with risk of infection.

Further information:
Acticoat can remain on the wound for up to seven days, depending on the amount of exudate and the clinical condition. It should be used in combination with a moist secondary dressing to activate silver release. Contact with oil-based substances and ointments should be avoided, as these can impair the silver's effectiveness.
