The Osteoporosis Vertebra Model provides a striking representation of the changes in bone structure in osteoporosis. It consists of three life-size , midline-sectioned lumbar vertebrae, showing various stages of the disease.
- The upper vertebra shows the healthy bone structure .
- The middle vertebra illustrates an osteoporotic altered bone structure .
- The lower vertebra represents an advanced stage with a depressed cover and base plate – the typical so-called fish vertebra .
All three vertebrae are mounted on a stable stand and can be removed individually , which facilitates interactive demonstration and patient training .
Areas of application:
- Patient education on osteoporosis
- Training in orthopedics, geriatrics and physiotherapy
- Medical education and prevention work
Further information:
This model is particularly suitable for demonstrating the effects of osteoporosis on the vertebral bodies. It illustrates how bone structure changes , the consequences of bone loss, and how fractures can occur due to weakened vertebrae.
