This realistic moulage depicts the sacral region with a pressure ulcer in an untreated state. The tissue in the affected area has died due to sustained pressure, and the necrotic tissue is visible. The moulage simulates one of the most common complications in bedridden patients and vividly illustrates the effects of pressure ulcers. The actual extent of necrosis can vary and requires surgical treatment.
The moulage adheres itself to simulated patients or manikins, allowing for easy handling during training. For longer training sessions, it can also be attached with special skin adhesive . The anal fold is also included to realistically explain and demonstrate the difficulties of bandaging and wound care in this area.
