Surgipro II from Covidien is a non-absorbable, synthetic suture made of isotactic, crystalline polypropylene stereoisomer , a particularly stable polyolefin, combined with polyethylene . The monofilament thread is chemically inert , particularly smooth , and exhibits excellent biocompatibility. Thanks to its blue color, Surgipro II is highly visible even in a bloody surgical field. It is sterile and available in various lengths and USP strengths—both undyed and blue-colored.
Areas of application:
-
Cardiovascular surgery
-
General Surgery
-
Plastic and aesthetic surgery
-
Microsurgery
-
Ophthalmology
-
Soft tissue sutures where permanent wound closure is required
Advantages at a glance:
-
Monofilament, synthetic suture material – smooth and gentle on tissue
-
Non-absorbable – for permanent suture stability
-
High tensile strength and excellent knot stability
-
Chemically inert – low tissue reaction
-
Blue version for better visibility in the surgical field
-
Very good biocompatibility
-
Available clear (uncolored) or blue colored
Further information:
Surgipro II is particularly suitable for surgical applications requiring permanent tissue adaptation without resorption . The combination of polypropylene and polyethylene gives the thread an excellent balance between flexibility and tensile strength. The smooth, monofilament structure reduces the risk of infection and minimizes tissue trauma during pull-through.
