The Stoma Trainer is designed to effectively teach the basics of stoma care to both patients and learners. This model simulates stoma retraction, where the stoma is retracted below skin level. It provides a realistic way to practice cleaning and changing the stoma bag, which is especially important for caring for patients with stomas. The model demonstrates lifelike function and appearance, as the stoma anatomy has been replicated using a soft, flexible material that provides a lifelike feel. Additionally, it allows for the demonstration and practice of stoma dilation and the application of post-operative and permanent stoma bags, where it is often difficult to achieve a good seal. The model can actually be flushed, and a syringe is included to pump the artificial stool through the model, simulating the flow and elimination from the stoma. The consistency of the stool can be altered by adding water to dilute the stool.
