This sophisticated phantom was specifically designed to evaluate the performance of the CT Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) system and enable comprehensive image quality analysis. Image quality is assessed by noise and standard deviation on the phantom cross-section images. The phantom simulates a compressed D-cup breast and contains a variety of specific simulated abnormalities and structures. Targets include microcalcifications, nylon fibrils, acrylic discs, an aluminum ring, Teflon discs, a Teflon ruler (increasing), and a resolution test card with 21 steps representing different hydroxyapatite contents. The steps range from 0 to 400 mg/cm, with a difference of 20 mg/cm each, allowing for precise assessment of AEC performance and image resolution.
Areas of application:
-
Evaluation and calibration of AEC performance in CT scans
-
Quality control in medical imaging, especially for mammography and breast imaging
-
Verification of image quality at different levels of hydroxyapatite and other simulated anomalies
-
Performing image resolution tests and assessing image restoration in breast imaging
-
Training and education tool for radiologists, CT technologists and engineers
Advantages at a glance:
-
Versatile image quality assessment: Allows you to measure image quality through noise and standard deviation and checks AEC performance in different scenarios.
-
Realistic simulation: The phantom simulates a D-cup size and contains specific structures such as microcalcifications, nylon fibrils and acrylic discs for a more realistic representation of the imaging.
-
Resolution Test Card: Provides a 21-step resolution test card for precise assessment of image resolution based on different hydroxyapatite contents.
-
Various simulated structures: Provides a wide range of anomalies and materials to test AEC performance under realistic conditions.
-
CT Scan Optimization: Promotes optimization and standardization of image quality and AEC performance in CT examinations.
Further information:
-
The phantom is ideal for regular quality control and performing imaging analyses to ensure that CT systems and AEC technologies operate under realistic conditions.
-
The use of this phantom contributes to the accurate assessment of image resolution and AEC performance, resulting in improved image quality and more reliable diagnoses.
