The CLEARTEST NT-pro BNP is a rapid diagnostic test for the qualitative detection of the cardiac biomarker NT-pro BNP (N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide), which is used primarily in cases of suspected heart failure and for monitoring the progress of therapy. NT-pro BNP is produced in the left ventricle of the heart and released in increased amounts when the heart muscle is stretched by pressure or volume loading .
This test enables the treating physician to perform a rapid and differentiated assessment in cases of unclear shortness of breath – particularly for distinguishing between cardiac and pulmonary causes. It is therefore a valuable tool in the diagnosis and follow-up of chronic or acute heart failure.
