The Rhino Rescue Chest Seal is a sophisticated occlusive dressing for the treatment of open chest injuries , such as those caused by gunshot, stab, or shrapnel wounds. Such wounds carry a high risk of developing a tension pneumothorax —one of the most common preventable causes of death from thoracic trauma.
The dressing features a powerful hydrogel adhesive that adheres reliably even under extreme conditions such as heavy sweating, blood, dirt, sand, or hair . The integrated valve allows accumulated air to escape from the thorax while preventing air from entering – essential for preventing tension pneumothorax.
Application is further facilitated by a large grip tab , a transparent back for precise positioning, and suitability for low-light environments . The product is latex-free and comes in a shock-resistant, folded package —ideal for tactical and emergency medical kits.
