The Cleartest Strep B is a qualitative immunological in-vitro diagnostic rapid test for the detection of group B streptococci (GBS). It is intended for professional use and serves as a supportive diagnostic tool in obstetric and neonatal settings.
The test is performed using vaginal or rectal swabs from pregnant women and skin swabs from newborns. It allows for a timely assessment of GBS status, particularly shortly before birth, and supports preventive risk assessment in clinical settings. The test result is available within approximately ten minutes.
The test procedure is standardized and designed for routine use in maternity wards, gynecological practices, and laboratories. An integrated positive control enhances procedural reliability. The test detects group B streptococci down to a detection limit of approximately 1 × 10⁷ Org/ml.
The Cleartest Strep B is not part of routine prenatal care and should be used no earlier than three weeks before the expected due date. The results serve as diagnostic support and should be interpreted within the specific clinical context. The test is not intended for self-testing.
