BD Vacutainer® heparin tubes with spray-dried lithium heparin are specifically designed for the collection of heparin plasma in clinical chemistry. The standardized additive, containing 17 IU of lithium heparin per milliliter of blood, provides reliable anticoagulation. The spray-dried coating ensures even distribution and rapid solubility of the heparin, effectively minimizing microclots and fibrin formation. The tubes are made of robust PET material , feature a Hemogard™ safety cap , and are equipped with a paper label for secure sample identification.
Areas of application
Plasma collection for laboratory analyses in clinical chemistry
Blood sampling in clinics, laboratories, doctor's offices and outpatient facilities
Suitable for immediate centrifugation and further processing
Use in analyses where a clot-free blood sample is required

Further information
Heparin acts as an anticoagulant by forming a complex with antithrombin, which inhibits the coagulation factors thrombin and Factor Xa. Standardized dosing and uniform distribution of the additive are crucial for avoiding analytical errors and thus for precise and reproducible laboratory results. BD Vacutainer® Heparin Tubes support efficient workflows and meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
