The mediware® conical swabs are innovative combination instruments for the precise and gentle collection of cytological smears from the cervical canal or cervical canal. Thanks to the soft foam cone, cells can be collected painlessly and without tissue damage – an ideal alternative to the traditional cytological brush. Their sophisticated dual function is particularly noteworthy: If necessary, the foam cone can be removed to allow targeted sampling in the cervical canal with the cytological brush underneath. This makes the swabs suitable for both conventional and liquid-based cytology.

For liquid-based cytology, the foam cone is rinsed in the cell suspension liquid by rapid rotating movements.

Before removal, the cone is pressed gently against the vessel wall to release the cell sample.
