The tracheostomy training model was developed for practical training and continuing education in nursing, geriatric care, and home care. It enables realistic training of key procedures for tracheotomized patients, particularly cannula placement, cannula changes, and tracheal suctioning. The transparent design of the trachea allows for visual monitoring of the tracheostomy tube position and the suction catheter, providing learners with immediate feedback and enabling them to optimize their techniques.
The device can be disassembled into two halves, allowing for a detailed demonstration of anatomical structures and typical problem areas, such as potential granulation zones. The soft tracheal wall provides realistic tactile feedback and supports pressure control training with the cuff balloon. Additionally, the soft skin surface allows for the palpation of relevant anatomical landmarks, such as the laryngeal cartilage.
For advanced simulations, the model can be connected to a ventilator using the included special cannula to realistically depict care situations during ventilation. In conjunction with artificial mucus, suction exercises can be performed under practical conditions. The model is suitable for nursing and emergency medical service schools, simulation centers, and for the structured instruction of family members in home ventilation.
