The Erler-Zimmer arm skeleton with muscle markings and shoulder girdle is an anatomical teaching model for illustrating the bony structures of the upper extremity, including the shoulder girdle. The model is based on a true-to-life cast of a human arm skeleton and is designed for use in training, teaching, and clear demonstrations.
The shoulder girdle is detachable, allowing for separate examination of the anatomical structures in the shoulder area. The hand is mounted on a wire, enabling the demonstration of wrist movements as well as forearm rotation (pronation and supination). The forearm bones are realistically rendered to illustrate spatial relationships and movement mechanics.
For easier orientation, muscle origins and insertions are color-coded. Muscle origins are marked in red, and muscle insertions in blue. The selection and arrangement of the markings were developed in collaboration with lecturers from a physiotherapy training program and are based on a structured, didactic presentation of functional anatomy. An accompanying, didactically structured description with references is included.
This model is intended for use in physiotherapy and occupational therapy training, as well as in teaching functional anatomy and kinesiology. It serves solely to illustrate anatomical structures and functional relationships and is not intended for diagnostic, therapeutic, or clinical applications. Use outside of its intended teaching and demonstration purpose is prohibited.
