The Histofreezer is a device for wart removal based on cryotherapy. Using a spray can and special cotton applicators, warts are selectively frozen. The gas mixture used, consisting of dimethyl ether, propane, and isobutane, reaches a temperature of up to -57°C, which is transferred directly to the affected area of skin via the applicator.
Through controlled freezing, the treated epidermis typically discolors and peels off after about ten days. New skin forms underneath, thus removing the wart. The procedure is bloodless and is used both in medical settings and for self-application.
Two different applicator sizes are available for application, allowing for adjustment to the size of the wart. Both smaller skin lesions and larger warts can be treated effectively.
