Ferritin in citrated blood, serum, or capillary blood from the fingertip. This test is used as an aid in the detection of iron deficiency , which is one of the most common deficiencies worldwide. Ferritin is a key biomarker for iron storage in the body. A low level can indicate functional or absolute iron deficiency. The test provides a meaningful result within 10 minutes and is intended for use exclusively by medically trained professionals.
Areas of application
Rapid diagnosis of suspected iron deficiency
Use in doctor's office, clinic, laboratory or outpatient service
Screening in risk groups such as women with heavy menstruation, pregnant women, children or the elderly
Extension of the medical history in case of non-specific symptoms such as fatigue, pallor or dizziness
Sample material: citrated blood, serum, capillary blood from the fingertip
Advantages at a glance
Rapid test for qualitative ferritin determination – results in 10 minutes
Detection range: 20–1500 ng/ml ferritin
High sensitivity (97.56%) and specificity (96.92%)
Very good accuracy: 95.24% (PPV), 98.44% (NPV)
Easy implementation in three steps
Testing with different blood samples possible
Helpful tool for the initial assessment of iron deficiency
Further information
Ferritin is a protein that stores iron and drops rapidly in the event of a deficiency – often before anemia develops. The CLEARTEST® Ferritin Rapid Test uses two monoclonal antibodies, one gold-labeled and the other fixed to the test membrane. This allows for reliable detection of ferritin deficiency. The test can provide indications of iron deficiency but is not a substitute for laboratory diagnostic confirmation.
