Ethicon's MONOCRYL Plus suture is a state-of-the-art monofilament suture enriched with Irgacare MP, the purest form of triclosan. This unique property provides a zone of inhibition against the most common gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens that can cause postoperative wound infections. The suture retains 60% of its initial tensile strength after 7 days, decreasing to 0 after 28 days. The undyed suture reaches its half-life after approximately 7 days and loses its initial tensile strength after 21 days. Complete resorption of the material occurs after approximately 90 to 120 days. MONOCRYL Plus is ideal for use in surgical procedures where rapid healing and infection control are required.
