The Sarstedt forensic swab is designed for the legally admissible collection of biological traces and meets the requirements of professional evidence preservation. The sterile packaging in a tube with an integrated venting membrane facilitates controlled, passive drying after sample collection and reduces the risk of microbial growth. A security label and unique batch identification ensure documentation and traceability throughout the evidence chain.
The round viscose swab head allows for gentle yet effective collection of DNA-containing material. The 125 mm long polystyrene shaft ensures precise guidance during sample collection, even in hard-to-reach areas. An integrated push-in plug securely fixes the swab in the tube holder and protects the sample material during transport and storage.
The product complies with ISO 18385 for minimizing external DNA contamination in forensic consumables. It is ETO gas sterilized and individually packaged. The swab is not a medical device or an in-vitro diagnostic, but is intended solely for forensic, criminalistic, and molecular analytical applications.
