Medicomp Drain slit compresses from Hartmann are sterile nonwoven compresses made from a blend of viscose and polyester fibers , with the viscose content ranging between 67% and 70% . The polyester content provides additional strength and durability. These compresses are free of binders and optical brighteners and are characterized by their air permeability . They are four-fold and available in various sizes. They can be unfolded to create a larger format if necessary.
The nonwoven compresses are suitable for a wide range of wound care applications and are suitable for both acute and chronic wounds . They can be used as a primary wound dressing for injuries, for initial wound cleansing , for cleansing intact and damaged skin , as a carrier material for external preparations (e.g., disinfectants, ointments), and as a secondary wound dressing . They also provide protection as a mechanical barrier and for the absorption of body fluids .
